I had a lifelong friend who rarely talked about politics, and I thought of as being super moderate, so, more conservative than myself. And he surprised me once by saying he just didn’t care if people didn’t want to work. Let them have benefits, he just didn’t care.

And “socialist” countries often have lower poverty rates. I think lower poverty means lower crime rates. Both are not horrible.

I know wait times for non-critical medical treatment are longer in Canada, say, than here, but here the wait times can still be pretty bad, plus, it’s expensive.
Some “socialist” societies have pretty good schools.
