My new thesis is almost surely going to be related, although not to the topic of rats. I'm about to decide very soon.

However, this is such a boost to my self-esteem that I may feel like writing anything... fiction or non-fiction. :)

I was devastated for so long because it seemed like no one gave a crap. Then I caught it in UT Austin's Science Fiction and Fantasy database. Now I find that I actually managed to get enough slivers to add up to an actual royalty check.

The following year, we released seven more marmots. Two of those were Haida and Onslo, a pair that would go to be the first released marmots to breed in the wild, and both survived for more than 10 years!

But with the support of people from across the country, we were able to begin the next stage of an ambitious recovery effort. In 2003, we released the first four Vancouver Island marmots from the conservation breeding program back to the wild.
