I am epic win.

Украине – мир, России – свободу
*sigh* Non-citizens outside U.S. territory do not have constitutional protections. Bakari Sellers is a lawyer, presumably he knows this. But I guess we're just gonna fight fire with fire and hope that works out for the side that actually requires something like the rule of law (it won't).
Stephen Miller’s Wife @katiemiller : “Can you cite the statute that makes the boat bombings illegal?”

@bakarisellers.bsky.social : “The due process
clause in the constitution.”

Well, that's one way to try to get rid of a bunch of judges you don't like!
Trump claims “any document” signed by Joe Biden is “hereby terminated.”

He calls out executive orders later but obviously “any document” would be much broader and include legislation.

(He can’t legally do that but, as always, we get to watch how far he can push this without repercussions)

I am very sympathetic to this, but... unfortunately, this is what democratization of media and politics looks like. Once the popular conception shifts from Politics as Vocation to 'Politics as popular entertainment most closely resembling competitive sports," the discourse is destined toward inanity
I don't think it's all of it by any measure but I do absolutely believe that the political media's raging anti-intellectual streak has got worse with time and has ended up influencing the way MPs talk, and what they choose to talk/think about
I don’t think this is a “politicians have got dumber” issue for the most part. If you look at the *actual CVs* of previous cohorts of MPs, their background is not radically different when you account for, you know, the fact the economy is different! It is primarily a media and ecosystem issue.

One might go so far as to say that...war is a force that gives us meaning
on some level i suppose it's just the human need to make meaning. when we suffer the most and sacrifice the most is when we become most focused on transcendent ideals that will render the pain "worth it." implications are many and quite a few of them are discomfiting.

I'm trying to suspend disbelief, but my immediate reaction was that MacFayden is way too tall. He doesn't give off the necessary dweebishness, he's too physically formidable
MacFadyen is the most Charles Guiteau motherfucker who's ever lived. The part he was born to play.

Specifically, there is a widespread conservative belief that contemporary schoolteachers & administrators are dead set on punishing boys from the outset for being harder to manage, rambunctious, etc. Activities are all geared toward quiet, gentle play and sitting still and quiet. Those who don't...
For sure. In the rest of the post (that's only half of it!) and her replies, it's clear she thinks that focusing on the social emotional stuff keeps down the "unique gifts" of boys.

The thing you gotta understand about everything Katie writes is that it is a finely tuned, compound dogwhistle designed to provoke a certain set of reactions on left, right, and center. If her kid learns this particular skill from her, he'll be set for life regardless of his shape rotation skills.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

If commercial flights stick to Class E airspace, they can just do their thing and understaffed ARTCCs don't have to worry about clearing them from sector to sector.
I don't get why this would be done. It certainly doesn't help ATC because they'd be responsible for alerting/deviating for all the VFR flights at those levels instead of up in the high routes where it's all IFR on pre-determined routes.

It's less Palantir and more Anduril - people just tend to conflate them. Every time Palmer Luckey opens his mouth to discuss anything strategic, part of my soul dies.
I watched that interview, is there something specific from there that you’d like to reference? I’m not trying to be defensive here but you’re talking in circles and being oddly vague. What exactly is Palantir doing wrong. Please be specific.

As it was in the beginning,
Is now,
And ever shall be,
World without end.
Amen. Amen.
There's an interesting grammatical tense used only to talk about powerful, wealthy people, where they have simultaneously done the thing, are doing the thing, and will do the thing.

Totally divorced from the concept of linear time, the only important element is: important person and thing.

For 125 years, the preservation of the White House has functioned as an agreement between the influential and the powerful, with no accountability.

When Donald Trump demolished the East Wing, he showed once again how unconstrained the Presidency really is.
White House Architecture Was an Honor System. Trump Noticed.
For 125 years, informal norms constrained what a president could do to one of the nation’s most famous landmarks.
