Tirzepatide is Associated with Reduced Risk of Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
Tirzepatide, a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA), has shown superior efficacy in glycemic control, weight loss, and cardiometabolic outcomes compared to GLP-1 RAs alone. While GLP-1 RAs may offer neuroprotective effects relevant to glaucoma, the impact of dual-incretin therapies like tirzepatide on glaucoma remains unknown. This study investigates the association between tirzepatide initiation and the risk of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), ocular hypertension (OHTN), and glaucoma treatment initiation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), compared to those initiating selective GLP-1 RAs.

Measuring the Costs of Strabismus Surgery: A Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing Analysis
Strabismus surgery is the primary treatment for a range of ophthalmic disorders affecting both pediatric and adult patients. In today’s practice, strabismus surgery is typically performed by ophthalmologists with subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus surgery. In 2007, Dombrow et al estimated approximately 80,000 strabismus surgeries were performed annually in the United States (US). At that time, there were worries about a mismatch in the supply of and demand for strabismus surgeons.

RNFL Thickness in a Population-Based Cohort: The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging M2M (Machine-to-Machine) Study
The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is a major national research initiative designed to enhance understanding of aging and its impact on health and well-being in the Canadian population.1 It involves a diverse cohort of over 51,000 participants aged 45 to 85, who provided in-depth data through interviews, physical assessments, and biological samples. With baseline data collection completed in 2015, the study will follow participants every 3 years until 2033 or their death. As part of the ophthalmic evaluation, participants underwent visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal scans (fundus photography).

Episcleral Osteoma
A 7-year-old boy presented with a two-year history of a slowly enlarging subconjunctival mass, without‌ trauma. Slit-lamp examination showed a well-circumscribed, pinkish-white lesion visible only on nasal gaze (A), with limited mobility and no tenderness to palpation. Orbital computed tomography demonstrated a hyperdense lesion adjacent to the temporal aspect of the left globe (B). Surgical excision was performed, revealing a flat, smooth, firm white mass measuring approximately 6 × 3 mm (C), which was densely adherent to the sclera.
