at the outright detriment of your partner to save yourself. And maybe if we had anything to go on about that self preservation to make her empathetic this could have been something. But it's not, they didnt care enough to make her a person they only cared for her to be extremely flawed. Such a flop

I want so badly to have empathy for this character but like, you cannot give me that backstory where she outed Aubrey Plaza's character as a teen and the only other thing i know about her as an adult doesnt compel me to believe shes any better of a person now or any less comfortable with lying even-

It's like they actively tried to make the girlfriend as unlikable as possible. searching for one piece of positive characterization about her in this movie and im an hour in and all ive got is "Liar, Bad Partner, Insecure, Competitive, Selfish, desperate for dad's approval" it cant be all flaws!!

Happiest Season is like if the Dinner Party episode of the office thought it was sweet and seasonal and poignant
