Too close to call but so far “cautiously optimistic” is leading

(Did I send this to my family group chat full of Texans with opinions about BBQ and smoked meats in general? You bet I did.)

The 36th is like a microcosm of "it's always the same map", imho

In Toronto it's a datacentre, in Seattle it's a datacenter. 💻🏢

It's genuinely a "you had to be there" moment. If I told you that you'd come away being thrilled you heard about rats driving cars, gene editing, First Nations singing that was suppressed by government, marmots, space debris, poetry, jazz, and more *seemingly unrelated* topics would you believe me?

Do what you gotta do to learn when the next Generator Toronto show is. Get on the fax list, follow @evanhadfield.bsky.social (who I'm tagging here because Kata, his spouse who produces the show, wisely stays the heck off social media afaik), reload Massey Hall's website every 30 seconds...whatever.

lol I wouldn’t make it to five. Only three: Weird Al, Blue Man Group, and Brave Combo.

Beaux Arts Village sighting!

We spent a LOT of effort saying “you transfer on transit with an ORCA card” full stop and to undermine that on a regional scale would be a disaster imho. Paying a fare shouldn’t require a table and flowchart; ORCA actually gets the relative simplicity correct. Putting barriers causes driving.

If ST dropped accepting transfers from Business Passport, I could see a bunch of employers VERY quickly deciding to audit their purchases of those products relative to WFH/RTO policies…in a way we would not like.

Yeah I don’t like this at all. It also makes pay per trip with ePurse more expensive. Kitsap did the same thing with fast ferries (and dropped Passport support altogether).

It feels like a stealth fare hike and that’s not what we should be going for with fares.

Metro has plans! Maybe not full on hot dog colored buses but they have route plans. When Pinehurst opens we will finally get route 77 across the top of north Seattle. There are ideas for routes on 65th and 85th iirc but it is an issue of geometry (and service hours) as always.

Cromulently!

Especially since Dembowski has been pretty good on transit, imho.
