I'm a few hundred pages into Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. That is, about 1/10th of the way through.
I'm overwhelmed by it all. Hugo's enveloping prose, his moral clarity, his sociological imagination, his compassion & wit, & his sheer genius for story-telling.

I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Mohammed. Mohammed is 25 years old and before this worked in a market and a house goods store. At the beginning of the war his house was bombed and he lost 22 members of his family who were sheltering there. He is trying to save the survivors.
