Overwhelmed by this generous review of "Miss Blaine's Prefect and the Uncharted Island" by the @scotsman.com's chief literary critic Allan Massie in today's supplement on Scottish Books 2025. Reminiscent of the Ealing comedies? I'll take that!

Incredible @rsno.bsky.social concert at the Usher Hall. A changing places scenario with conductor Patrick Hahn playing piano for Antheil's A Jazz Symphony, while Frank Dupree conducted. Then they swapped for Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F, including swapping shoes. Encore: jamming to Caravan.

Fascinating talk at the Muriel Spark Society by psychiatrist Allan Beveridge who talked about the presentation of madness and mental illness in her work. She wrote in The Comforters, "We are all a little mad in one or other particular." Then to Le Bistrot which has an interesting take on literature.
