It all comes down to the failed business case for HS2 which should have been about taking fast trains off the current lines to double or triple non-expresses serving local town to town travel and freight rather than saving inter-city business people a few minutes.

But then I remember the vast majority of voters will just read "Cash ISA allowance slashed" and think that that applies to the accumulated balance or affects their £50 pcm so they think they are going to lose something.

I don't get why? You can get better returns outside the cash ISA even taking the tax into account unless you have a very large sum saved. And salting away over a grand a month is a pipe dream for most. This makes no difference to the vast majority of voters.

In the people leaving there will be some that are at a point of their lives where big decisions commiting them to the UK for another 10, 20 years need to be made. "Shall (can) I buy a house, start a family, take a new job?" so it reflects uncertainty about their long term future for the UK.

That has been a large part of my disappointment with this govt. They will be howled down by the opposition and their media hacks, neither of whom simply believe Lab has a right to govern. They could give them a cause to whine and do the big progressive stuff instead of tinkering at the edges.

Badenoch can't think of her feet. You see it every week at PMQs, she never nuances her question or changes tack regardless of the last answer. KS could give her the moon on a stick and she'd ignore it and still ask the prepared questions.

If pensioners (or anyone) have so much disposable income they can afford to save more than the take home from a full time min wage they don't need a tax break.

Oh he's much too smart to be caught out now. He has all the answers well crafted and he knows exactly how far he can push the rhetoric to get his base saying "yeah, that's just common sense" but if you dig in or even question him you're just a woke snowflake looking to take offence.
