Our survey experiment also shows that citizens evaluate non-transparent MPs based on both the number and type of their side jobs (companies vs. public interest groups).

MPs with undisclosed income from many ties to companies are rated lowest in trustworthiness and electability.

Conversely, the study provides no evidence that trust in politicians with day jobs depends on the individual decision-making powers of their public office (legislative instead of executive role).
