For instance, now the holy goddamn New York Times knowingly and eagerly works against the public good for access, clicks, shits, and giggles. They are monstrous in the extreme. Now they would root for the Zodiac.
The NYT definitely made a choice not to add “without evidence” to this headline.

I'm not saying news orgs didn't lie or promote the status quo and work hand in hand with the rest of our white supremacist patriarchy, or even that this incident was accurately depicted.

I'm saying that they considered the public good at least occasionally, as opposed to their never doing so today.

Can't remember which sci-fi author said it (Heinlein maybe), but it was along the lines of "If we could control gravity, that's the magic bullet. Controlling gravity is the tech advancement that would make all our sci-fi fantasies possible. It would be the ultimate power."

The Enterprise can look like that bc it has magic gravity that is seperate from any engine thrust. It's "inertial dampeners" compensate for any thrust or motion at any time in any direction to alway make gravity stable in one direction. Trek artificial gravity is even more magic than the warp drive.

Many of the ships are (theoretically) designed to be big box buildings with an engine at one end so they can install bulkheads on the interior to create floors for use under thrust. Decks inside are parallel to the engine bc thrust gravity runs thru us perpendicular to the engine, head to toe.

But my fave of his flicks is LOOPER, a twisty time travel tale with Joseph Gordin Leavitt doing his best Bruce Willis impersonation as they play they same character brought together by time travel shenanigans.

His most forgotten movie is a little love it or hate it con man story. A tale of love and loss, it's hilarious and right on my wavelength. YMMV.

Ty so much!

That was done on purpose. One the aspects of realism Expanse used was in spaceship design. IRL, most ships that never have to deal with gravity or atmosphere would be built like an office building, while atmo-ships would look like a bullet. It's for economy and stable center of gravity under thrust.

No. Maybe it'll go up on YouTube. Or maybe we will but the bullet and get Hulu back. I've been sitting on a $3/month code since we got rid of it. And with Pardner being laid up now, it'd be good to have another viewing option for them.

I know. I want to flip it on later, but also i just realized that since we dumped live tv, I may have to work to find it.

Ditto, tho I didn't turn on the dog show this year. I actually forgot. For a few years in a row my spouse and i would watch the dog show with their mom and then turn on Best In Show immediately afterwards. Now that was fun.
