Yeah he 100% sees himself as working in the horror genre. He’s said he wants to do an adaptation of In the Mountains of Madness, when he’d be better of doing like, Jane Eyre.

Idk, I think the genres can overlap, but I agree with Sean that he keeps trying to do horror but just makes it not-horror. He seems to love his monsters too much to make them actually scary.

As one of the dozen people who liked Crimson Peak, I think gothic romantic melodrama is his genuine sweet spot and there would be no shame in just sticking to that.

There are also a ton of people working in the healthcare field who are not doctors or nurses, don’t have that level of education, and unless they‘re in a union are paid very, very poorly - nursing aides in care homes, patient care techs, and home healthcare aides.

I think this is probably part of it, though I think the original OP might be getting at the idea that medically transitioning, as it’s broadly understood socially, is something that costs trans women especially a lot of money to do. But that doesn’t mean they’re rich!
