Nothing says you’ve hit 50 like receiving your bowel cancer screening kit from the NHS through post. (And nothing says neat modern service like getting a kit like this days after your birthday because some groovy automated service chugs away in the background to make this happen.) #LiftFlapToOpen

Last day being 49. Still in this world, just maybe not anywhere near as much on the socials. Spread ideas, eh, not an image.

Yet another Grimsby game, yet another away Grimsby game, yet another underwhelming away Grimsby performance and — most bizarrely of all — I think after Bradford, Crewe might be the Grimsby away fixture I’ve done the most over the years.

It wasn’t anywhere near as bad as Barnet a few weeks ago tho.

Lunchtime. Made myself go out and see that new clock at London Bridge station, walked along the south bank past Tate Modern. Decent midday midweek freshener.

Sure sure London Kings Cross Five Guys your standard _shake_ size is this and we up north have weird rules about getting the bigger cup. (This is a _Little Shake_ cup.)

Getting into London NFL game at Tottenham’s stadium an experience. Website and signs round ground: “small clutch bag with or without a strap” allowed in. Just about every woman we saw told “that looks like a bumbag”, needed to check bag in. Contradictory, maybe sexist. www.nfl.com/news/nfl-uk-...

Half marathon personal best in this morning’s Royal Park half marathon. Can’t grumble.

On my way to do the Royal Parks half marathon. Not doing a fundraiser myself. Just asking you do an act of kindness today you wouldn’t normally do. ✊🏼

Random bits of art springing up around your neighbourhood — in this case because of Bradford City of Culture — is GREAT. Better than flags too.

Saturday aft trip from Saltaire to Salford via Manchester and back on trains for the Grimsby game. First away win I’ve seen since Crewe away in something like April 2023. And I have seen *a lot* of away games since then. The Tap at Manchester Victoria is a splendid boozer too. Thanks weather gods

Said at the start of June let’s kick on harder at everything, including running, yup. Lovely morning for an end of September 10km, nudged me over 1200km ran this year. Now 2025 has the third highest annual amount of running since I started back running in 2017. 2020’s record 1462km is passable. 🙏🏼

Running* 7km along Regent’s Canal from the top end of Shoreditch down to end of the canal at Limehouse Basin, done. ✅ (Just a couple more chunks of the canal and I’ll have done it all, when I’ve had chances.)

That

* “Half”
* My runner number, 8902
* The space to write _something_

on my Royal Parks half marathon bib sheet looks more like a maths question.

Seeing out the running week with my regular 5km loop from KX to Camden and back. Trotting past the British Library, a month until their exciting looking Secret Maps exhibition: events.bl.uk/exhibitions/...

Still, had a good look at the Tottenham stadium today on my morning 10km, rinsing that they’ve actually won something. And Arsenal’s place too. ⚖️

My football team does that thing on social media when they do well they post stuff like “THIS TEAM!”

Feel they should balance that with stuff like “THAT TEAM.” when they’re the exact opposite.

Is it positivity? But is it more balanced? ⚖️

(Yes, Grimsby were terrible at Barney.)

A trip to Sheffield tonight, Hillsborough stadium to be exact. April 2003 I was last there, when Town drew 0-0 with Sheff Weds and sent us both down. Time flies…

Not a meaningless goalless affair tonight. Up the Mariners! #UTM #GTFC

“Europe is in the midst of almost completely deindustrialising the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.”

By “industrial” does Wright mean factories with smoke spewing chimneys?

They say what about the meek?
I say they've got a bloody cheek, vanity and presumption, living in the hard porn shop lately

Dude, they've been reading screens at HMRC, linking old systems and new systems for at least 10 years. Do keep up. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

As we roll into September I am rolling back into the office at Assembly in Bradford, after a couple of months working everywhere-but.

I left my inside IR35 role at NHS England last month and have gone back to freelancing/consulting, genuinely been great, refreshing, even saying "no" a bit.
