Metatrichia floriformis fruiting bodies under a tinder fungus. They look like black balls on stems, and the ripe ones burst open into orange hair to disperse the spores. At the bottom is a second, orange slime mold, probably an Oligonema.

Yes! That’s them. In an earlier stage they first look like a bushel of tongues (left) and they may develop more folds later (right):

Milky white droplet shapes on little stems growing out of rotting wood on the forest floor. These cones will become pink, then brown, then yellow and will then burst open into balls of yellow hair from which the spores are dispersed in the wind.
