Retired legal professional
I was born in the USA. Both of my parents were naturalized citizens. If the government prevails in SCOTUS, then someone could challenge my citizenship by trying to find defects in my parents’ naturalization paperwork. So I take this case a little personally. Thank you for defending the Constitution.

Vivid moviegoing memory: people in the theater laughing out loud when we learned that “V-ger” was Voyager. We don’t get those moments anymore in the age of streaming.

Trump claimed the Kennedy Center is being renovated. Lets hope he doesn’t have it torn down.

This wasn’t a canoe. It was a large boat that would have weighed thousands of pounds. The idea that they were trying to flip it back over is absurd.

These pardons are a slap in the face to all these people’s victims, not to mention the prosecutors, judges and jurors who have put in their time and effort to do justice.

There is zero chance that an admiral would have received an order like that without making sure it was documented in some way.

No, it can’t. The ICC has no jurisdiction because the US is not a signatory.

I don’t think “crimes against humanity” is the correct term either. There is no such crime under US law. Crimes against humanity are prosecuted in international tribunals like the ICC or the Nuremberg tribunal, which isn’t an option here. This is just plain old murder.

It’s helpful of him to build a record for future prosecutors to use to prove his intent.

Judges have broad contempt powers if it’s in their presence - someone says “f—- you” to the judge in court. But when it is not done in the judge’s presence, the judge has to go through a lot of steps. He knows that if he doesn’t dot every “i” SCOTUS will reverse him, and he’s following the process.

I’m actually looking forward to the sequel to Nuremberg. Coming soon to an international tribunal near you.

Active members of Congress get that Obamacare coverage. But retired members can buy coverage through FEHB, the same coverage all federal employees and retirees get.

So if Exxon wins this case, does that mean I have a First Amendment right not to tell the IRS how much money I make? Or would this First Amendment right to secrecy apply only to corporations?
