I think the tools for working with all this tech are still catching up. Right now it's impossible to do anything without figuring out an extra special flavor of OAuth with nonstandard extensions, for example. That's hellish all on its own.

I think the protocol and other technical infrastructure is pretty amazing. But socially and organizational, we really need more medium-to-large scale actors involved. I'm seeing stuff push in that direction but time will tell I guess.
