Spring flowers in the Pacific NW. What’s blooming in my garden this week: Nootka Rose (Rosa nutkana) More my style than other roses: native / no maintenance - plus great for the pollinators & food for birds. #findjoy #artyear #bloomscrolling #PNW #gardening #MayBlooms #spring #flowers #gardens #rose

Who's ready to follow this path wherever it might lead? 🙋🏻‍♀️ You'd be on your way to stunning views at Cape Flattery in Washington state, US, the northwestern point in the lower 48 states.

I thought I was being smart by wearing a poncho. I still got wet and got bloated! hahaha

Amen:
Trauma shapes everything you do and

It’s not an excuse

Of anything it should make us more aware

we are more likely to express on people with less power or more care for us than we have for them

it’s usually how we were taught
8. What was something you wish people realized about trauma, especially in a world that stereotypes and stigmatizes?

gracias to the village
the aunties, godmamas,
next-door saints
who never stop loving
on birthdays,
on breakdowns,
on every in-between.

you held us
when life got heavy,
raised us
even when we weren’t yours

happy mother’s day
to the women who built us
with grace,
with grit,
with love that don’t quit

I assume that this probably applies to most of us: Our world is so 💩 & hard right now, that the only thing truly keeping me going, is small, random acts of kindness, community, & support, from individuals.

Let’s scale this up, because practicing small acts is achievable by everyone.

We absolutely must stop logging mature forests in Western Washington & the Olympic Peninsula. These are some of the last refuges of our local biodiversity & protect our waters/prevent landslides. Thank you to the protestors working to protect this forest.
Port Angeles, WA - Forest defenders have launched a blockade this morning in order to halt the clearcut logging of one of the last low-elevation mature forests in the Elwha Watershed.

besides eco & nurturing biodiversity reasons, my use of a scythe came about by being too poor to hire landscapers & needing a disability accessibility tool to cut things that didn’t hurt my body w/its injuries & vulnerabilities to repetitive stress injuries.

1. As we face a series of great crises, every parent is confronted with the question of how much we tell our children. We don’t want to lie to them, but nor do we want to terrify them. Of course, there is no single answer. It depends in part on the child. But this thread suggests one approach. 🧵

I ❤️ my old lady bicycle. She’s named, “Tilly.” Time to give Tilly some spring TLC this week so I can pedal to the nettle patch & see if the nettles are coming up. My guess is they are & it’s time for Nässelsoppa! (that’s swedish for nettle soup 💚🌱) 1st super nourishing greens of early spring.

I haven't done this in a long time, by I'm going to write a thread tonight.
Today we had some high energy wind, as a sharp transition between atmospheric energy levels moved into our region.
High energy winds can move large masses. That's what energy does, move matter.
Today it moved some of mine.
