so, i'm asking you to do the hard work more often. You'll find it actually doesn't take much. I've had many people tell me how much it means to just have someone listen, to be patient with them, to gently correct them when they misstep instead of monstering them.

But there's a whole host of reasons people balk at this. It's sometimes hard work. It requires patience and love. Far better to speak high minded ideals that don't require that kind of action. Far better to cover up your own failings by refusing to address them and universalizing them. It's easier
