New Yorkers deserve better than a disgraced sex pest for mayor.
Extremely shitty especially coming after ICE has been terrorizing Evanston families, and as local schools are set to shut down due to budget shortfalls.

I guess I wonder how much we can read into support for her as an expression of a desire to stymie Zohran's priorities and how much of it is just that she's been courting support harder than the other candidates and much more effectively?

I just checked NYCCFB, and Menin maxed out donations to 25 council members, including Epstein post-primary (Hudson donated $500 each to 10 members). Which I guess indicates that the support is less idealogical, and more because of what they feel she's offering them?

Also I think this is a reaction to the combo of Zohran + Adrienne strong-arming 69 gods into voting for City of Yes + the charter amendments passing despite the Council lining up against

That's the public sector unions, right? My understanding is that the largest private sector unions support it (1199, 32BJ, NYSNA, CWA). But I think there is an overwhelming distrust of anything that could impact their ability to wield influence (opposition to the ballot proposals for example).

That’s basically every ‘no’ vote on City of Yes, plus the votes got by nixing the specific eastern Queens R varieties from the ADU requirements … plus Manhattan. I’d suggest this has the makings of a very anti-building/pro-neighborhood-character Council. (Charter revisions look set to be a *bfd*)

it's a good thing the ballot proposals passed!

I don't think it's right that they're idealogically conservative as much as deeply risk averse. It's interesting in light of how much they put into Zohran's campaign in the general (both in GOTV efforts and acting as a sort of broker to get more establishment Dems on board).

What I guess I'm saying is that I've seen a bunch of these Mamdani picks out in the streets doing the work. These are community people, not billionaires, lobbyists, or business execs. So I'm pretty pleased with where this is pointing so far!
