So if this deal goes thru, Netflix cements its dominance by securing Friends, etc. in perpetuity.

If it's rejected, Netflix cements its dominance by having sidelined Paramount's sub-scale service for years while courts decide.

Either way, Netflix wins, Ellison loses, no?

The worst part about the boat strikes - regardless of who ordered what and besides the ultimate tragedy of lives lost - is they’re forever a stain on the professionalism and dignity of the United States military.

They’re an insult to every American who ever sacrificed to do the right thing.

The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

Don’t forget that *Trump’s own lawyer’s argument* to the Supreme Court in the immunity case was that the check on the President using his immunity to order criminal acts was that those under him would not follow illegal orders. Now it’s a crime for lawmakers to remind servicemembers of that?
The President doesn't want you standing up and speaking out against him, so he's coming after me to intimidate all of us.

But I won't back down — and neither should you.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

In the most fundamental sense, sovereignty belongs to the people. It can only be relinquished through consent or stolen through fear. If we refuse to consent and remain unafraid, we win.
For one example: I covered the Ayman Soliman situation — the children’s hospital Muslim chaplain beloved here in the Cincy area jailed by Trump’s ICE for weeks, with intention of deporting him to Egypt where he says he’d face political targeting perhaps death — here very closely. Like so many cases…
Nine months ago I put most of my hope in major institutions continuing to hold fascism in check, but had little expectation that regular people with little to no power would step up and put themselves at risk.

I had it exactly backward.

This is quite a hed/subhed.
1) Start with Vance. Use strong action verb. Accept the autocratic premise that the “Marines’ Might” are Vance’s to flex.
2) Mention the protest second and absurdly describe them as in the thousands
3) Treat Trump’s strong man use of the military as a partisan scuffle.

All you peacenik liberals wringing hands over what to do: Yes, of course, vote. It's your primary responsibility as a citizen.

But now more than ever, fulfill your second civic responsibility: Serve on juries. Never has it been more imperative to thwart rogue injustice.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

they don't have the capacity to compel obedience by violence.

the only lever by which they can obtain obedience is fear.

do not offer it to them.

Another 6% drop would erase all S&P 500 gains since 2021.
