i like how everyone in chicago is doing blatant license plate fraud now. multiple cars in my neighborhood without front plates, plates upside down, plate covers, fake temp plates, no plates at all

Speaking of rebalancing, Bicing in Barcelona uses really cool custom trailers that allow side loading of the bikes.
They park parallel to the station and quickly load bikes instead of having to walk each bike up the ramp like bixi does

I’ve been visiting School Streets all across Paris and the standard approach is to add a center-running greenery lane, usually with full pedestrianization. This example maintains car access on the commercial side but enhances the pedestrian environment on the school side.

The Swiss sometimes implement traffic priority strategies that are genuinely wild.

On this national road approaching Zug from the south, buses are allowed to jump the queue of cars by using the opposite-direction lane contraflow temporarily, while signals hold up general traffic in both directions.

Italy is not really an example of anything good in terms of street design.

But one thing Montréal should absolutely copy is driveway cuts. They should be flat with a steeper slope like the one on the left rather than on a gentle slope, which is terrible for pedestrians when icy.

Not sure about this intersection but apparently this is standard bus priority at signals:

All buses can get green extensions if they're approaching;

Buses running on time will have an extra green phase inserted for them;

Buses more than 20 seconds late will even get to shorten other phases!

Conditional priority. The lit review we did for the Brooklyn bus redesign found 4-7% trip time benefit from TSP; a much better use of TSP is to make it conditional, i.e. an on-time bus gets nothing, a late bus straight out does not see red lights. This solves bus bunching.

In a way, Lyon's metro is the last of the old-school metros, built in a way that we would consider unacceptable today. For example, the historic Morand bridge was demolished and replaced with a new one carrying the metro within its tubolar structure.

It's funny how drivers have convinced themselves that the number of available lanes is the driver of congestion in urban context, when every minimally informed expert since the 1920s knows it's conflicts with other vehicles, notably (but not exclusively) at intersections.
