Tbh, I feel very lucky my parents taught me to read before I even got to elementary school. They taught me my letters and how to sound them out(phonics). All I remember the elementary teachers talking about was context clues. If it weren't for that, I may be functionality illiterate too

Big problem is, Linux AMD drivers are great, it's Windows where they have problems. So unless you plan on making a really painful switch to Linux I can't really be of any help...

I've had no issues, but I run Linux and use mostly open source software. The substance suite works great! The only issue I've had was Designer 2021 randomly stopped working for me one day and I haven't been able to get it to start up since? But it seems more like a Linux than GPU problem

Setting aside legality. The point where it actually gets gross for me is more the "barely legals," 17, 18, 19. I went to community college when I was 26 and the lack of experience made them feel like children to me. So I'm more sus of a 23 y/o dating an 18 y/o.

They're both consenting adults, so I only find it weird if its a pattern, like those rich guys who periodically divorce their wife for a new 23 y/o. That's pretty gross, otherwise it's whatever.

It's like those objects that are secretly cake but instead it's digital industrial waste. Landmines hidden in plain sight. The only way to be safe is to distrust everything and do your own research. A libertarian wonderland. A world meant to exhaust us until we surrender and mindlessly eat the slop

I think for some other neurodivergent people this can manifest as hating small talk, as it can feel like a someone wasting their precious energy on something that feels pointless.
November 11, 2025 at 12:54 AM
For me, I can enjoy small talk, but I only have so much energy for conversation each day before I turn into Silent Bob. So I need to have the energy for both it and any important conversations I need to get to that day, otherwise it can really get on my nerves...

Possibly! Kind of like a functionary of some ancient government committing ritual suicide to be by their emperor's side in the afterlife.

Rat swarms are scary, but it's better than colonies of giant mosquitoes.

yea, I have copy of the HD re-release, and it feels uncanny/wrong. Seeing it blown up on a big flat screen and not a little crt doesn't help either.

Thank you for this, I was wondering why I had never seen any of these "rude" posts people were screenshoting and it turns out they were hidden by default for me???

I use webp to minimize the size for Git LFS. Maybe excessive for PSX textures, but I don't think it hurts, as the slowest part of the script is krita's initial export. ImageMagick's conversion to webp happens instantly by comparison.
November 4, 2025 at 10:32 PM
I have a bash script that handles export. It uses Krita's to export all textures in a texture set at once. Then it uses Imagemagick to combine the textures and create a palette for that set. Finally it converts to WEBP, scales, and palettizes the textures. Then it cleans up after itself.
November 4, 2025 at 10:32 PM
The textures are all made in Krita at 4x their final resolution (256x is scaled down to 64x). In Krita I make heavy use of file layers to keep repeated elements, like the half-timber beams, modular and easy to edit.

I guess it's your turn to talk about infrastructure or geologic formations in video games.

They really think "I want them to die, so obviously they must secretly want me dead too! It's kill or be killed in this world, and the only true goal in life is to be the last one standing!"
November 3, 2025 at 5:29 PM
The benefit of doing it that's easy will be that I can save my images as webp instead of dds and keep my Git LFS real small. Also I can have more control over the final result. Downside is I could see it causing stutter when a new texture is loaded. Will have to be careful
