Dundee is a good example of a town, incidentally, that is enriched by its universities even as there are real challenges (not enough housing, at least pre-covid)

ah i wouldn’t worry about it, everyone move to london/birmingham/glasgow to do minimum wage jobs in, uhh, vape shops and betting shops and chain restaurants forever, i don’t see how this would be an issue

wait maybe the argument to win over the government is to highlight how killing universities harms landlords

not to mention everyone else in the town which suddenly supports night clubs and shops and bars and whatnot

this entire ecosystem is just so ill-suited to universities, do not get me started on the immense hassle that is moving your documents from one institution to another
