25, they/she. chronically ill and doing my best.

touring car nerd / racing history enthusiast / occasional writer / beginner photographer / collector of model cars and shiny cardboard / https://nightmere.carrd.co/

you're not punk and i'm telling everyone
by far, the single racing category that I have the most complicated feelings about

in every measurable way GT3 is excellent; longevity, popularity, stability, you name it

but I genuinely believe there's an argument to be made that it's done more harm than good to the broader motorsport landscape

“I just have concerns about fairness in sport” - no, you don’t. There’s nothing fair about elite sports. You’re just looking for post hoc justification because we give you the ick

This is fantastic. Transphobic MPs like Zeichner must be met with shame, if not direct action. For all to see.

Thank you to TLC for bringing this to our attention.

xoxo BASH BACK
Brought to us via This Is Not A Drill: a toilet with the words "no trans segregation" & "where do we go now?" was left at the Labour Party office. Our MP Daniel Zeichner both-sideses emails about fascist nu-wave transphobia so we empathise with whoever did this!

Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

I can't really do this collection justice in a few posts, but here's a sample of what was there

I'll probably post more photos later, but this is what I was up to today: visiting a frankly ridiculous car collection

well I had a nice day out, but I missed an excellent performance from the McLaren Comedy Club which is unfortunate
was a little disappointed when I realised I was going to miss the GP tomorrow, but on the evidence of this it's definitely for the best

McLaren in a crisis of its own making is lovely. They’re locking the garage down like they just watched the Challenger explode

I'm thoroughly impressed and slightly weirded out that Sainz was able to correctly diagnose precisely what the problem was that was causing his lap of grip. Like, has somebody done that to you before, Carlos?

that was a pretty vicious spin for Charles

Crofty doing the voiceover for a Red Bull advert there, thank god I'm not on twitter anymore and don't have to see the conspiracy theories

introduce yourself with five cars you’ve owned

I've only had two so far 🙃

2012 Mazda2 1.3 (my first car, had it for about three years)
2011 Suzuki Swift Sport (current car, have had it for nearly five years now)

it was a terrible race, but how are we reaching the conclusion of one "legitimate" overtake here

'if you ignore lap one and any overtakes made due to a driver making a mistake, except for specifically when Alonso ran wide, there was only one overtake' doesn't quite have the same ring to it I guess
NEW: ‘Boring’, ‘static’: Drivers frustrated by difficulty of overtaking in Losail sprint race

Formula 1 drivers called the Losail sprint race "boring" as only one legitimate pass was made in the top 16 places all race.

it's just respectability politics through and through.

calling someone a racist, a transphobe, an ableist, a misogynist, a homophobe or even quite famously; a bigot, is hands down far worse than the bigotry itself.

always has been. because it benefits power and no other reason.
I have no idea who Jennifer Forbes is, or what her views are, but unless she’s got an earpiece with someone else barking instructions to her, it’s pretty fucking sus.

While many of Japan's kei cars were all about maximising space, Daihatsu's 547cc Leeza, first seen in 1986, had a small, almost coupé-like body. The line-up ranged from the very basic X up to the fashionable ChaCha and Oxy II models, with much of the marketing aimed at female drivers. #weirdcarbs
