These projects, when taught in conjunction, allow for productive discussions about archival violence, and also bring to light the significant barriers we face in both researching and writing transgender history. The Homosaurus introduces the importance of metadata, rendering the stakes clear: if the metadata we search isn't inclusive, our understanding of history won't be either.
