let no one ever forget Bill Belichick spent all of last year on ESPN saying the Patriots screwed up picking Drake Maye because he was butthurt about getting fired
Drake Maye has taken a downtrodden franchise, stuck with back-to-back 4-13 seasons entering this one, and led the Patriots to eight straight wins.

Is he the front-runner to win MVP?

if I didn't know any better I'd say your Detroit Pistons have themselves a bit of a #culture

Great talk today with @Colton_Pouncy on the playcaller version of Dan Campbell. Why he made the switch, how long it'll last and why it was different @WelcomeToDetroitPod

@mattharmon.bsky.social joins me to discuss fatal flaws for current playoff teams.

We hit 6 teams on this show, including whether the Lions have a tendency problem on offense right now (🎥).

Plus, Eagles-Packers MNF recap and reactions to the Daboll firing.

I talked about this on the postgame show a bit — Campbell is a Sean Payton disciple. SP calls his own offense and basically always has. He’s also always had OCs who help scheme/plan/etc

John Morton has worked with Payton and Jim Harbaugh (who also does this) and, to me, that’s why DC likes him
How does that affect their O Coordinator, whether that's Morton or a future hire? I think Campbell doesn't get enough credit for his football IQ and can be a great play caller, but I don't know enough about how that affects hiring.

hard disagree -- Campbell was going to keep the play sheet until Ben Johnson showed he was Ben Johnson

would not be surprised if Campbell continues to be his own playcaller beyond this, it's a thing he's wanted to do for a while he just doesn't talk about it in public
Campbell took over playcalling after firing Anthony Lynn as OC, too. He's probably not looking to be a permanent playcaller.

I’d say look for Daboll to possibly be with the Lions next year but since Dan Campbell is now his own play caller maybe not?

honestly think the Lions have just executed better offensively today -- not sure what Campbell's play calling situation is or isn't, though he clearly seems to be calling them

last week was just nowhere near their standard at the LOS
