One thing I've noticed since moving to the US and from content from folks like @milesintransit.com is that folks here thank the driver when they get off the bus! I lived in several Canadian cities and that was never a thing there. I wonder why?

On the topic of our most recent (remastered) episode, be sure to #FollowFriday this account to get the answer to whether games have the fishing minigames they should all have!

Sharing this incredible image that @amberchiodini.bsky.social made to demonstrate the "eras" we defined in fishing video games for our #PAXEast panel last year. We just remastered and released this episode on our feed, but sure to check it out!

A lil' Stranger Things 5 fact check: bearded dragons didn't appear in the US pet trade until the 1990s. The first handful that ended up in the pet trade were smuggled to Germany from Australia in the 1980s.

I did a line drawing of the coelacanth at the American Museum of Natural history @amnh.org a few days ago. This morning I colored in that drawing with charcoal colored pencils. #SundayFishSketch #AMNH

I noticed as per usual, all the animal facility management people taking the week off, leaving their underlings to do all the labor. Not me! Peak Millennial manager, I let my staff take time off first.

Thankful for all of my fellow animal care and animal health professionals who are working the holiday. You rock! 🐟

Happy Thanksgiving. My thoughts are with my fellow folks who grew up in food safety households, who have to eat at houses which were absolutely not food safety households. I grew up in a catering family. I was too busy to do all the cooking myself this year, and I'm kind of dreading it.

This week we drop episode 67! We're getting in on the remaster trend by re-recording and releasing our "lost" episode that we did live at PAX East in 2024! The original audio was lost (thanks, Bernard the tech guy...), which was a tragedy!

It's a travesty that there's no decently cheaply priced option for pierogies in this country (at least, here in CO). Back home, those No Name giant bags of pierogies sustained me through university and vet tech college. 🇨🇦

NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

SeaWorld, you can't hurt an elder millennial like this. Naming a ride after SeaQuest is just MEAN.

I'm not sure I'll ever wrap my head around the folks who go after the scientists tagging sharks. I worked at the govt level back home in animal welfare for a while. I've heard a lot of wacky things. But that really kind of takes the cake. Like they hate external fin tags etc. 🤷

Did an evening bike ride over to our local McD's tonight and got some ice creams. Definitely saw folks loading up tonight on their free redemptions. If nothing else, if some free ice cream, apple pies, etc bring some joy to folks these days, good.
The free food we got from the McD's Monopoly (you could get 10 free entries a day) seems to be sustaining a lot of folks where I live this month. I hadn't set foot in one in years but I can't pass up free food as a poor person. Trying to buy a bit too because redeeming 5+ things/day feels weird.
