If the bulk of students are cheating with ChatGPT, at a certain point, no school can just go back to bluebooks. No administrator in the country is going to fail everyone to make a point. Now, apply that same logic to society in general. That's the problem we're quickly walking towards.

This election is also a victory (of a kind) for 2SLGBTQAI+ and other marginalized groups. A CPC majority in government would have been a disaster.

There's lots of work to do, but with Carney as PM at least Canadians can build from the statuo quo instead of fighting for recognition.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

The TikTok ban, the Musk Twitter takeover, the Facebook moderation policy changes, the Republicans’ rapidly intensifying crackdowns on speech... let these be the proof you needed to move anything you care about online to a space you control.

And again, other people are better at capturing my thoughts than I am.
David Lynch has been not only my favorite director but the artist most central and attuned to my inner life since I was an alienated child in a junior high school in a tiny town in Montana and I feel just unglued from the world.

Lynch often said he didn’t see his work as nightmarish or transgressive. To him, it was all about capturing a story, a moment in time, or a state of mind. Straight Story captures all of these beautifully.
If you've never seen The Straight Story — maybe you think you don't even LIKE David Lynch — you should watch this one.
PSA: It's streaming on Disney+, of all places.
