My daughter would come home from 1st/2nd grade talking about crushes. She saw couples all the time (mom/dad, grandma/grandpa) so it felt like an imitation thing rather than a pushed social norm thing. We read tons of books about all kinds of families so she knows boy/girl isn't the "only way."

My daughter (6) and I colored together this evening and this was my finished product. Apparently the whole "coloring as stress relief" thing was right. Who knew. Could work for you, too!
