Today in 1952 saw the Harrow & Wealdstone railway disaster unfurl. However, disasters can bring out the best in people, and the actions of Lt. Abbie Sweetwine and the USAF during that terrible event inspired the development of Paramedics in Britain.

I love early locos and how varied and odd they were, especially ones trying out power transmission and types of valve gear. For example this loco, a model of the 'Earl of Airlie', an early Scottish engine.

So influential was the American electrics, that one of the first suburban electric networks in Britain was a dead ringer for American stock at a glance. Quite shocking just how quickly the electric trains fell out of favour over there.😕

Changing things around here a bit. I'm going by my new handle as 'Old Coal'. As much as I liked NERailwayArtist, it did cause some confusion back on twitter, and it did seem to pigeonhole me as a purely rail artist. Hoping to change that as I go. The 'mascot' will still be an engine though.

Apologies to those waiting on commissions, whether them to be done or new slots to open. I've been unwell this past week, not sleeping between work shifts, and so its had a knock on effect. I should be back to it by the weekend.

Pictures of my Rail 200 waggon, complete with a plinthed Hornby 'Locomotion.' A silly idea that came together over a couple days and nights but I think it turned out alright.

Well the weather wasn't brilliant at the beginning of the day, but thankfully the afternoon steam meetup wasn't cancelled; the sun came out and it made for some nice pictures. My engine and train are in the first photo.

I've taken on quite a commission for the next few weeks, so for now, I'm closing them. I'll announce when they're back once this project is done. Thanks to everyone that commissioned so far, it means a lot. :)
