A decade after the Paris Agreement, Brazil’s COP30 Presidency calls for a #GlobalMutirão - a major collective effort uniting governments, Indigenous and local leaders, scientists, investors and citizens to work side by side.

#COP30Belém - the first Climate COP held in the Amazon - offers a pivotal opportunity to spotlight the critical role of tropical ecosystems and the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities who care for them.

Hosted by the University of Oxford @ox.ac.uk & the Embassy of Brazil in London, with opening remarks from Ambassador Antonio Patriota

The dialogue will move from the role of forest protection for biodiversity & climate to the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), which will be launched at COP30

The authors, including Aline Soterroni, link the projections to different levels of Brazil’s Forest Code implementation.

💡Critically, the paper shows that to prevent the steep biodiversity declines in the Cerrado, additional complementary measures are needed alongside Brazil’s Forest Code
