The lights have been draped and fastened vertically so as not to put too much pressure on the tree, which has been growing on the Northumberland estate for over 150 years.

It features almost 800 metres of lights and took three people two days to decorate. Every bulb had to be meticulously checked and then draped and fastened vertically so as not to put too much pressure on the tree.

The towering giant redwood was officially named world’s tallest bedded Christmas tree by Guinness World Records. It is one of millions of trees planted in the 1860s by the estate’s founders, the Armstrong family, some of which are now the tallest of their kind in the country.

The 2024-25 Trees for Climate Impact Report showcases how the partnership work to create new woodlands is helping communities across England.
