I'm taking some time to work on tasks and requests that have needed some attention. One of these is getting some new shirts in the shop. The first batch are now up. Also, after a long hiatus, Canadian customers can order shirts again from the shop.

Finished this commission yesterday. This one got me thinking about political imagination and what it would take for such a transformation fur sure.
Two anthropomorphic cats step forward triumphantly each with an arm upraised. In one outstretched paw sits a mink and it the other a duck. Behind the cats are a number of unlocked cages stacked in a pile. A fox pokes out of one just behind the cat's legs. Behind the cats is spacious yellow back ground and large red flag with a "CALF CSSR" logo featuring a depiction of several animals and a catnip cornucopia. Of course Empty Bowls (2023) is about that enrichment of owners at the expense of workers and their communities. But it's not just about getting a fair day's kibble and a great gag. "Our life" points to the existential dimension of work that is both too little and too much to live well.

Another colourful addition inspired by a 1970's poster. A commission of three cats and the first on the theme of participatory soviet democracy. I like this one because, for me, the small details speak to there being a larger world behind the poster.
Three cats stand behind a lectern like shape. One a scientist pointing toward a book, one holding a catnip branch, and one with one paw on an emblem and the other paw pointing to text. The emblem is the soviet cat emblem with red star, globe, and catnip branches. Behind the cats is large red flag with hammer and sickle emblem. Behind this, a scene of engineering and economic feats, spacecraft, fishing boats, and tall cat tower complexes, etc. First text black reads "We defend our working way, the right to eat, the right to play, the right to nap in the light of day." Another text block under this reads "Participate in your councils, the democracy of workers, farmers, and communities."

The second Biscuit Makers' Union poster follows the workers of biscuit making from "from field to tummy." This journey is depicted literally in the poster: starting with farm fields, through harvest, and production. A closer look at the bottom reveals a fleet of trucks ready to deliver biscuits...

A cat poster that is also an anti-war poster designed as a WW1 era poster. Two large soldier cats are fighting with one screaming in anguish as he is stabbed by the other with a bayonet. At the same point at which the bayonet strikes, the point of a large triangle also connects. Within the triangle are two cats in suits (bourgeoisie) clinking glasses and happy. Text reads "A bayonet is a weapon with a worker cat at either end. Betray your country. Serve your class. Don't sign up for war." The poster is meant to convey that the working class should be working together, not fighting one another for the interests of their bourgeoisie. An ink drawing of a scene in a trench during a gas attack in the WW1 period. Anthropomorphic cats in a panic put on gas masks. One of the cats cannot get his mask on and is being helped by a comrade as he gasps. An ink drawing of seven cats in WW1 uniforms and gear. Blinded from a gas attack and wearing bandages around their faces, six of the cats are lined up in a row holding one another's tail or grasping shoulders. What looks like an officer, without injuries, with his backed turned toward the viewer, is at the front of the line seems to be helping.

Education for All - Literacy for Liberation (2021) is another sovcat commission featuring a beautiful trio.

The human world poster is based on a FAI-CNT poster from the Spanish Civil War, Federación Anarquista Ibérica - Confederación Nacional Del Trabajo, 1936.

This year's drawings were overall more involved than previous times and quite a challenge. Seeing the results makes it all worthwhile, however, and there are enough ideas to develop further here to keep me busy for another year! Many of these will definitely become posters and paintings.

Ready for a tail-puffing tale of terror? I give you "VACANT," the recent release from Scaredy Cat Pictures for today's #inktober. #inktober2025 So what's this movie about anyway?

As today's prompt is 'lesson,' I drew an educational cartoon page from the early 20th century with some definitions. #inktober #inktober2025 #worker

"Putting It Together." Today's prompt was puzzling and this came together quickly.
An ink drawing that is also a cat propaganda poster. A large cat paw holds a puzzle piece that says "capitalism." The piece held is the last piece in the puzzle indicated by a large, dark spot in the center of the puzzle. Emerging from the word capitalism are organic tendrils like virus or slime that spread out and connect other words such as "Alienation," "Homelessness," "Imperialism," and "Chemical Pollution," etc.

Skeleton cats are having a party and getting a little rowdy. #inktober #inktober2025
