The new Sinophone Studies reader is out now (“Sinophone Studies Across Disiciplines”), edited by Howard Chiang and Shu-mei Shih. I’m very happy to have contributed a chapter on Beyond - I had a blast writing it, and it’s a paper I’m particularly proud of!

Yesterday Chengdu post-punk band Hiperson 海朋森 played at Taipei’s The Wall in front of a full house. Hiperson’s guitarist told the audience that he grew up listening to Taiwan folk songs. The band was super excited to be in Taipei, and the audience was moved to tears by the Sichuan poets.
