I took a beekeeping course about 15 years ago and was very put off by the approach, robbing the hive of all honey and feeding low quality sugar syrup, trapping the Queen, killing drone brood. I know these are all ‘normal’ in bee keeping but it wasn’t the natural idyll I’d imagined 🐝🐝🐝

Is it an edible variety? The area floods regularly and our river is unfortunately high in P and coliform bacteria from sewage and agricultural runoff off. I wouldn’t eat anything from this area.
