Spot VIX +7.4 over the past 5 days, while the S&P 500 is down 1.6%. There have been 72 prior instances of a vol spike like that (where there was no such move over the prior 5 days). Mean S&P 500 drop is 5.3% but the median is actually positive and the stock price reaction is 17th %ile.

if Trump manages to fire Powell (or pressures him to resign) then that's the end of independence of Fed and bond markets will factor that in, it will be the 'liz truss' moment for US but worse long term implications!

Tariffs affect the low income households particularly hard, they pay extra for everything they consume!
so in a way, if you cut income tax and put in place tariffs, you are transferring wealth from poor to the rich!
