A couple big books dominated this month, some work, some pleasure. Comrade Yetta by Arthur Bullard was the big hit, a towering novel of socialism and sweatshops in 1910s NYC.

More fiction related to work. Kikuko Tsumara's There's No Such Thing as an Easy Job explores social interactions at work, turnover, and newcomer socialization in an enjoyable novel that incorporates elements of magical realism.

Several People Are Typing (2021) by @kasulke.co is a fascinating novel written to mimic Slack interactions. A strong theme is remote work and the challenges of maintaining a workplace culture when most people are WFH.

A hearty October of reading, with lots of work-related stuff, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross's On Death and Dying, and my favorite of the month David Halberstam's The Next Century. He anticipated much of the shit we're going through now.
