Better also check they don’t have an extradition treaty with Venezuela or Colombia. And an OLC opinion won’t prevent a new POTUS from extraditing Hegseth et al to those countries himself.

This is really it. As long as voters are unwilling or unable to educate themselves and make intelligent, thoughtful choices based on facts and not on propaganda, elections (at least honest ones) will always be won by those that misinform most effectively.

If the first sentence of Article II were removed “The Executive Authority is vested in a POTUS,” the Presidency would still exist but just as an enumerated list of responsibilities. It would eliminate the “unitary Executive” theory which has led to so much abuse.

No. It’s to make laws and put a check on the other two branches through investigations and impeachment. They have the first amendment to protect them in this instance but not the specific speech and debate clause.
