A previous apartment had delicious, delicious stinkbugs that our (now gone) cat Pascal was EXPERT at hunting. They made his mouth go numb and drool copiously until he had to go to the vet. Again. We had a dedicated "stinkbug cup" for rapid disposal when he got that focused look

I worked in healthcare pre Medicaid expansion, and I would say that we've been there for *decades*

Having clients tell you they pay for their sliding scale fees by collecting cans along the highway and rely on free big pharma samples for their meds really puts it in perspective

Yes, I did show her this. Yes, she did ask me to email it to her so she could print it out and hang it in her office.

We have this capability and chose not to implement it because we decided that personal freedom is more important than collective health.

Until then, I'm masking up to stay well (with a side benefit of feeling unbearably smug about not getting sick after every damn conference anymore)

In my ideal world, we would have already made infrastructure changes like great air filtration so that we don't need to wear masks in most public spaces unless we are actually actively sick. I'd love to not have to weigh risks about going to eat with friends or going to the gym unmasked.
