My new laptop (or rather the fact it has a 16:10 aspect ratio) has highlighted a problem with the portal effect I'm using.
Turns out it only works at 16:9 resolutions...

Finally got around to really stress testing my new laptop.
This render of a burger took 2 minutes less to render in 8k than a 1080p render took on my old laptop (4 minutes vs 6 minutes)

Decided to give Yooka-Replaylee a try
There’s a few QOL changes I really like, but man did it come at a cost
It feels like a sterile, sanitized version of the original from the moment you boot up the game. As an example, here‘s the title and save game menu for both versions

I didn’t find this myself, but don’t you love when a new QOL feature is so broken, it allows you to skip entire sections of a game?
No idea why the load zone only appears after throwing a grenade at a specific position though

Made it to The Fury just now
Outside of bosses the game definitely feels more difficult, as proven by Snake‘s many scars and worn down camo (another really cool feature)
I think it’s a mix of the AI being more perceptive and the world just being far more detailed, causing things to blend together

The changes to UK law requiring age verification have done something very interesting, showing just how utterly unprepared companies have been for the situation but also how easy it is to actually fool these systems
