Haven't played any Yakuza other than 0 (which I absolutely loved). I get paralyzed as soon as I see how many games there are and how long each is 😭 Do they know if they run well on Steam Deck??

@harrisonpolites.bsky.social clues us into what would make the console-PC hybrid ideal for customers like him.
A word of warning from the Steam Machine's 'ideal' customer
Console gaming is all about pick-up-and-play. PC gaming is innately more fiddly. While the Steam Deck tried to bridge the divide, to succeed the Steam Machine will need to go further.

@margot-plays.bsky.social covers the crucial difference between wanting to play a game and feeling like you should play it.
Thoughts: Do I actually WANT to play that game?

This is Steam numbers only, correct? Would be interesting to know the % of Tarkov players who play through Steam. I'm guessing it is relatively small since the game has been playable for years now through BSG's launcher and you can't transfer accounts over to Steam.

What I believe is that if they weren't using their TTS AI there would be no VA at all for those areas of the game.

I would've preferred that to AI, but I don't think it is a simple matter of AI stealing VA jobs. Those VA jobs wouldn't be there at all because it would take too long to implement.

Not trying to dispute your insider knowledge, but they've publicly said it isn't just a matter of money, but one of time.

The game's first update (out two weeks after release) added new items, enemies, and quests.

Manually recording voice lines for all of this would've taken much longer.

Replacing human work*. I'm not saying what Embark did with ARC Raiders is good, I'm just saying it should be debated, not automatically disqualifying.

Rebellion also has between 200 and 500 employees, and they are AA. Arc Raiders is 40$ and didn't cost "anywhere close" to what a AAA game costs, according to their CEO. They also paid voice actors. This isn't ideal, but it isn't a simple matter of AI replacing work which would've been in the game.
