Nope. Easing permits to build ADUs in LA didn't make affordable housing. *I voted for it* on the pitch that it would help. The theory was wrong: landlords coordinate high rents. Here are more ADU rents from the SFV. In cities where median income is $37k (Before taxes) $40k/yr aren't affordable.

The sales pitch doesn't align with the practice. In my neighborhood in LA the rich buy homes, and put in overpriced ADUs. Median income families in LA can't afford these ADU rents, and then they can't compete to buy homes either vs cash offers from the wealthy seeking more rental income.
