A vital tool for our ELT is being assembled.

The Phasing and Diagnostics Station will align the hundreds of segments making up the ELT main mirror, so that they work as a single, unified "phased" surface.

Remember the first image of the black hole in the M87 galaxy taken by @ehtelescope.bsky.social ?

New analysis shows that some features of the ring around the black hole don't change over the years, but others do!

Astronomers have created a galactic masterpiece!

Using our VLT, they observed the Sculptor Galaxy in thousands of colours simultaneously 🌈

The more shades of colour there are in an image of a galaxy, the more we can learn about its inner workings.

We have reached the top!

The protective dome of our ELT will have two giant sliding doors that will open at night to allow observations.

Their structure is being installed on the dome, meaning that the ELT has reached its highest point.
