Still I was able to win around €100 worth of Magic cards today and I played very well in the games where I had agency. Plus I got to play Magic with my friend so I was happy. Today was a good day.

I choose to play my trusty Jeskai Blink. I was expecting a lot of Titans, Blink decks and Affinity. I quickly mad a list that was metagamed against this decks last night and it was really good. I easily mad top 8 and got crushed in quarterfinals because I draw 2 spells out of 12-14 cards in 2 games.

I choose to play my trusty Jeskai Blink. I was expecting a lot of Titans, Blink decks and Affinity. I quickly mad a list that was metagamed against this decks last night and it was really good. During this RC I started playing on MTGO and I think it helped me improve a lot. I’ll try to play more on MTGO this season and see how it impacts my results.

That being said it is now time for Standard and I want to qualify more than ever so I can play another RC. I also want to play in the Spotlight Series Lyon.

Not being able to play the main event was really frustrating and I will probably not go to another RC if I’m not qualified. LCQs are in my opinion a bit too random to be worth it.

In conclusion I had a lot of fun this weekend mostly because of the time spent with my friends and with the people at the event but the actual Magic games weren’t very fun. Cube was fun but Modern wasn’t.

On Sunday I played the Modern Open with a pretty mid Jeskai Blink list that I netdecked and finished 5-2-1. I’m not super happy with that result. Once again I felt like I didn’t have much control over my losses.

I chose to play cube on Saturday instead of a side event because it was free and probably more fun than a 3 round Modern side event or an Avatar draft.

With many GPs returning next year I’ll probably skip big Dual Commander events like this one and instead focus on Limited and 60-card formats which are much more fun and rewarding for me.

On Sunday there was a Dual Commander rebound but I just didn’t want to play the format anymore. I bought some cards with the vouchers I won from the Modern and Team Trio events and spent the day supporting my friends.

All of that combined made for a really unpleasant experience where I played very few interesting Magic games in a 10 round event. I think I played something like 7 real games of Magic out of 25. In the future I’ll probably avoid this format and focus on others instead.

Many of my opponents also had no clue what was going on in the games and played at a really slow pace which forced me to play faster and make mistakes to avoid drawing (they didn’t seem to care about drawing).

This tournament wasn’t very fun for me. There were a lot of games where either my opponent or I had the nuts and the other person just didn’t get to play Magic at all.

On Saturday I played the Dual Commander main event. I chose to play Aragorn because it’s the only deck I own, it’s very strong and it is fun. I finished 5-5 missing Day 2 because I played poorly and didn’t have enough preparation for the format.

Playing Modern was really fun and I hope I keep having this much fun until Antwerp. Also playing Jeskai Blink after playing Prowess for a whole season made me feel like Rock Lee dropping his weights against Gaara.
