The reason why I'm so angry has a lot to do with the lives that will be lost — people are absolutely going to die as a direct result of Senate Democrats folding on health care. It also has a lot to do with the suffering that was endured — people were struggling to get by without food assistance. 🧵

Proper healthcare and preventative treatments are incompatible with capitalism's goal of profit maximization.

The profit motive needs to be entirely removed from the realm of healthcare.
Watching Monday Night Raw with my adult children, having way more fun than 30 year old me would ever have thought.
Same! It was a bright blue.
That is fabulous. I had to rent one in the way back days of 1997.

A lot of people aren't old enough to remember US Healthcare before the ACA.
It was a dark time.
-Pre-existing insurance-no coverage
-kids off parents plans at 18
-even workplace insurance could exclude pre existing conditions
-no insurance funded breast pumps
Wait, are you telling me insurance pays for them now? That is awesome!!!

Half my family are federal workers/retired federal workers.

The Republicans are pissed because why didn't Dems do this in the first place. The Democrats are pissed because why put them through all this for nothing.

Absolutely everyone is furious with Democrats, and for good reason.

I told my Senators that the message Senate Dems are sending is that if we vote for Democrats resoundingly in an election, they’ll promptly fold.

Is this what they want us to take from this?

“I think it’s a terrible mistake,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren says of the deal. “People want us to stand and fight for health care, and that's what I believe.” (via Igor Bobic, HuffPo) x.com/igorbobic/st...
Dear @vanhollen.senate.gov and @alsobrooks.senate.gov - the DMV has not endured this shutdown just to have the Dems in the Senate cave on ACA anyway. What was this pain even for!?!
Did anyone else think about the #NormalGossip Pet Mayor episode when reading the last sentence? @mckinneykelsey.bsky.social
agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish
My spouse will never get over Baltimore losing the Colts, or the trashing from the league when they were hoping for an expansion team. Irsay and Tagliabue are 4 letter words in our house.
We also bumped into our friend Sam, who is famous in the fiber world for his sweaters of places. We know him for our local yarn store.
The alpaca parade is just one of the many reasons to love it.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

The Maryland Alpaca and Fiber Festival is my favorite fall activity.
That is serious good behavior. I need that energy to rub off on me.
