Many countries have things like "champignonworst" mushroom sausage ( meat with mushrooms). In many EU countries you expect meat when you see sausage or burger. This is to avoid confusion. The objections are very English centric. Botany they are absolutely not english centric, and in european supermarkets the meat-replacement products are in their own section, there is no risk of confusion. notably there are also no stories about people actually buying the wrong thing that would ground this. it's lobbying and culture war nonsense. Ike Namura Order 5 tons of Beetroot sausages from Latvia. Get meat with beetroot or get vegi beetroot composite sausage shapes? This makes things clearer. It makes trade easier. It makes it easier to go abroad in the EU and order something knowing it will or will not contain meat. English have narrow views Botany the site you order from has the ingredients listed. you know how i know that? cause that's also an EU rule. Ike Namura This isn't about YOU ordering from a website. This is about the total trade and consumer system of a union with multiple languages and cultural culinary rules and expectations. This makes it easy. If it says "burger" it has meat. If it says "disc" it doesn't. Speeds things up doesn't it? Botany it is entirely unnecessary and doesn't solve any actually existing problems. it will also mean that the entire meat-replacement industry will have to re-do 90% of their packaging and advertisement materials, which - given that the lobbying came from meat manufacturers - is probably the point. and switching this from ME to the whole trade system doesn't invalidate the fact that those people will also see the ingredients lol Ike Namura I see why the UK is one of the least productive countries in Europe.
