I wasn't alive in the 90's (ntm I'm not Japanese) but I'd say Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2. In terms of battle pacing, incredibly thoughtful UI and storytelling, smt1 is fucking crazy, and it was doing that shit before most of the iconic jrpgs of the era. smt2's setting is also insane for a sfc game.
What do you figure is the best video game EVER for it's time?
On a quality-to-era ratio, I'd say Super Mario Bros. 3; it's unspeakably amazing for an 80s game.
But for current perspectives, I'd give it to both Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII. Those fuckers ARE the OG AAA bangers, period.

So it seems the new Switch/Switch 2 update has caused intermittent crash issues with BDSP while it is booting up.
I swear that game is being held together with duct tape, string and a prayer.

Everyone's has their own opinions on the pokemon stat system. But generally I think natures and EVs are good ways of individualizing pokemon while allowing for customizability for those who know how they work, but IVs are just a net negative in the series in nearly every way.

Well the Diancie mission is no Mochi Mayhem. But it's better than the shaymin and darkrai sidequests in Legends Arceus. I like these mythicals being mystery gift sidequests that will hopefully just stick around for the forseeable future.
