If your new time saving workflow is so inefficient that you have to work overtime to get the same results that's not an excuse, that's a mark against your decision making ability
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

"hey phone, what's this piece of paper they have here by the bottom corner of the painting and has a few paragraphs on it? What's that mean?"
That Samsung AI ad where the guy goes to a museum and his phone tells him about all the art is such a good idea. I hate when you go to museums and they never tell you what any of the stuff is

Think about it. That's what Olivia Nuzzi saw
Think they purposely did this near the defrib area

I assume they told him that in a desperate attempt to keep him from trying to mess with a lawnmower. "sorry sir your IQ is 180 of course but the lawnmower requires uh 185"
People who have personal cleaners see regular tasks like buying your own groceries or mowing the lawn as some complex mystery

Based on the hit Philip K Dick novella “Mix Up At The Job Name Factory”
Los Angeles, 2019. I am a courier, delivering important materials by hand. In order to navigate the dirty, crowded streets better, I glide through them on a pair of roller blades. I'm what's known colloquially as an ANDROID MURDERER. (There was a mix-up at the job name factory.)

On the one hand I'm envious of people that have been doing software their whole careers because they know a lot more about computer science than me, on the other hand since they haven't done any other job they are constantly "getting boss baby vibes" about everything non computer thing they see

It seems repetitive and empty at this point to say everyone responsible for this should go to hell but what else can you say

More than that, his crew threatened to open fire on the murderers. He rescued civilians, returned to base to refuel, flew back, and rescued more civilians. Then he denounced the crimes to his HQ.

For all this he received death-threats throughout his life.

People who respond to all the criticism of AI being used for scams, cheating etc with "who cares, *I* use AI for very useful code things" are a lot like people who respond to worries about mass misinformation on social media with "I'm not concerned, I stopped using those sites". That's not the issue

Ann Wagner: huh that's weird that they call their state capitol City Hall. Anyway no time to look into it, gotta post
Here's Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) raging about Missouri's elections being "decided in California" in response to an article about Missourians protesting a gerrymandering petition in California -- except the article is about the town of California in Missouri.

Only slightly related but “I’ll unfollow you!” is not a threat, it is simply offering to do a kindness to you both. The idea that the point of social media is to amass the highest number of followers possible is a blight on society

At first I was like that's funny that they spell it "tsar" in the UK but then I was like, wait a minute I think that's how we spell it in the US now when referring to old Russian rulers, but we still spell it "czar" when it's about a US government official in charge of a special area (eg, drug czar)

No need to read too much into it, it's just "for a while I was so embarrassed I didn't want people to look at me" but with the drama slider turned up to 11 so you are starting to get some distortion
“I do not wish to be understood, which no one seems to understand.”

This is what’s missing from the book. It is a 300-page meandering navel-gaze. A Joan Didion impression from someone with nothing to say, vaguely offended that readers would *expect* her to have something to say.

I was telling my friend the other day that if I was talking about needing a new car in Discord text chat and got a pop up ad for Honda right after, I would be annoyed, but if I got the ad after talking about it in voice chat I would be creeped out and pissed off. Don't know if that's irrational

The Quiverfull movement is creepy in what it actually does but even just the naming is messed up like your children are just interchangeable ammo. I know it's from the bible but there it's just a one-line metaphor among many while this group has chosen it to be its main deal

From Vincent's article, this is an odd thing to assert when robots intended for replacing human labor don't need to do many the things humans do (or evolved through doing): grow from infancy, reproduce, be a contiguous corporeal entity. You're also not building robots out of flesh, bone, and blood.

I think people are missing it by debating if a bad guy repeats lies because they are dumb or because they're intentionally manipulating others. Everyone wants to believe they're the good guy (maybe not like kind and fair, but like strong and cool) and that requires lying to themselves

I don't have any pictures but it's all the macho WoW dads that were big softies to their kids. Our guild leader was a big tough trash taking Midwest football guy who, after the raids, would be like well I gotta go guys, my daughter wants me to play pretty pretty princess
If you see this, repost with your model of positive masculinity.

Dating discourse is always a mess but is it really as gendered as conventional wisdom says? I had pretty bad "incel mindset" when I was young and couldn't get any dates (due to my bad personality and slobby appearance) and got so pissed off at guys saying it's so easy to get a date, just be a woman

It would have already been stupid enough to just say "Japanese food" but what elevates it to the next level is "Asian"
Today is the 10th anniversary of one of the stupidest tweets ever written

I think you could make a fun Hangover style madcap comedy about a bunch of still fairly high VC buddies that suddenly have 48 hours to find a way to pass the piss test and are running around trying to buy clean piss or trying crackpot science from one of their companies, hijinks ensue etc
By the way, we’re gonna need to do this fast. Everybody in Silicon Valley with a clearance needs to piss in a cup within 48 hours of the new Democratic administration taking office.
A future D Secretary of Defense - should one ever come - will need to suspend the clearance of every last person affiliated with a16z, 8VC, Founders, & Sequoia and pull clearances from every portfolio company pending comprehensive drug testing, financial review, & CI screening.

It’s going to hurt.
