Few albums have created as clear a dividing line between “before this” and “after this.” Happy 60th.

"I Want More" by CAN would have been an amazing Eurovision entry for Germany. Could have had some synchronised dancing to go with it.

I thought the film 'The Order' (on Prime) was pretty great, got under my skin in the same way No County For Old Men did: a police procedural/cat and mouse thriller which hides something deeper and more mysterious. Also, its one of the most visually beautiful films I've seen for a while.

Like Bowie, Prince and Weatherall, the passing of David Lynch goes way beyond a 'celebrity death'. It is a monumental cultural diminishment. Their legacy will live on, but the world is a lesser place without their actual presence and energy 🙏

Marathon Man is such a bonkers mainstream American movie: pure-grade airport novel schlock, and very artfully shot and scored. Love the opening sequence of the two old guys killing each other.
Often wished that Marathon Man was actually about Roy Scheider’s highly capable, smart & lethal government secret agent, Doc Levy.
Irl Roy was an ex-Golden Gloves boxer with an 11–1 (6 knockouts) record. Hence his physique in this brutally short fight: youtu.be/asGnaw3vSCU?...

Welcome to new Bluesky users. Here’s how we do things:
1. Always observe the Hambledon Protocol
2. No flisking
3. If someone tealights you, rink them without apology
4. I don’t mind them so much, but tissue-posts are generally frowned on
5. No questions
Good luck!
