It's not all bad. There's no point in history when we've been better stewards of the land. Still work to be done, but from a supply standpoint, we've never had more abundant and diverse food in human history

Farming has become large scale because the efficiencies we've gained has drove down margins. I farm 5x what my grandfather and great uncle farmed. They were able to provide for two families with 9 kids. What I farm now only provides for 1

It's worth noting that a lot of those acres that are raising animals aren't suitable for crop production. Over production in grains is largely because they are able to be stored for longer periods and keeps the pipeline full in years that production is down

I've been approached by several companies about selling carbon on our farm. The system in its current form is going to be a pretty hard sell to most producers. It will be interesting to see how it devolves

I can only speak with authority about grain farming, but it's physically much easier now than even 20 years ago. It's still hard work, but nothing like it used to be. Efficiencies have driven a lot of the margin out of it.
